Marlene Wagner - Vice-President

  

  MARLENE WAGNER -PRESIDENT

MARLENE WAGNER, President of the Board of Education, began her term in 2000. She has lived in the Manchester community with her husband, Bill, for 20 years and their three children - Lara, 19, Sarah, 17 and Scott, 13. Wagner holds a bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in Iowa, where she was a biological science major. Currently a mother at home, she is active in the Klager PTO and middle school PTSA and the high school Parent Advisory Group. Wagner serves on the district's Curriculum Council as well as the School Improvement, At-Risk and Technology committees.  She is the school board's liaison to the Manchester Community Schools Foundation. She was elected to another four-year term in 2008.

    RON ELLISON - VICE-PRESIDENT

 

RON ELLISON, Vice-President of the Manchester Community Schools' Board of Education, is in his third term on the Board. A resident of the Manchester area for more than 25 years, Ellison lives in the village of Manchester.  His son David is a 2002 graduate of Manchester High School and daughter Lindsay is a 2005 graduate of the high school.

Ellison holds a bachelor's degree in business and marketing from Central Michigan University, where he graduated in 1976. He is the president of American Title Company in Jackson and an active member of the Manchester Optimist Club. His current term extends through June 2010. Ellison's home phone number is 428-9386.

VICKI MILLER - SECRETARY

VICKI MILLER was elected to the board in June 2002 and is in her third term as Secretary. Miller has worked 31 years in the book manufacturing industry as a cover artist, currently working at Thomson-Shore in Dexter where she acts as a mentor for the Graph-X program of the South and West Washtenaw Consortium. She lives in Freedom Township with her husband Phil. The couple has three children, Emily, Jonathan and Jeffrey, all graduates of Manchester High School. Miller worked with the Citizens for Education and received a Volunteer Service Award from the Community Resource Center for that involvement. She also assisted in writing a mission statement for Manchester Community Schools. In addition, Miller has been a parent coordinator for the Manchester Lamb Club, Country Expressions 4-H Club and a girl scout troop. She is a former Klager PTO president and Sunday school teacher at Bethel United Church of Christ and is a member of the Manchester Athletic Boosters. Her term expires in June 2010. LYNDON UPHAUS - TREASURER

LYNDON UPHAUS, School Board Treasurer, was re-elected to the Board in May 2007 and will continue until 2011. A lifelong resident of Manchester, he is a 1969 graduate of Manchester High School and graduated from Michigan State University. Uphaus is self-employed as a farmer and lives in Freedom Township with his wife, Ann Iott-Uphaus, and their daughters, Sarah-20 and Katy-18. Uphaus served as a township trustee and a member of the Freedom Township Planning Commission for 13 years. He currently serves as a director of GreenStone Farm Credit Services and is the president of the Michigan Corn Marketing Association as well as treasurer of Great Lakes Ethanol. He is a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and the president of the Rowe's Corner Cemetery Association. Uphaus' telephone number is 428-9556. CHRIS FEGAN - TRUSTEE

CHRIS FEGAN, was elected school board trustee in May 2007.  Fegan is very active in the community and owned Village Gifts and Village Dry cleaners.  She is also a trustee on the Downtown Development Authority board.

She and her husband, Todd, have lived in Manchester for 11 years and have two daughters, 13-year-old Taylor and 11-year-old Rachel and is a radiation therapist with the University of Michigan Health System.

Chris belongs to the Manchester Area Chamber of Council and serves as a trustee on the Downtown Development Authority.  She is past president of the Klager PTO and a former board member Manchester Co-Op Preschool and the Kiwanis Club of Manchester.

DARA PSAROUTHAKIS - TRUSTEE


DARA PSAROUTHAKIS, the newest school board trustee, was elected to the board in May 2009.  Her term began in July 2009. 

She obtained a bachelors degree in psychology and a master's degree in experimental psychology from the University of Toledo and obtained an educational specialist degree and a PhD. from Michigan State University.  Dr. Psarouthakis is a licensed psychologist as well as a licensed school psychologist. She currently is the senior psychologist for the 30th Judicial Ingham County Family Court.

She and her husband have lived in Sharon Township with their two children for 10 years.

 SHERYL PUROL - TRUSTEE

SHERYL PUROL was elected as a trustee to the school board in May 2008 and her term continues through June 2012. A life-long Washtenaw County resident, 35 years ago Purol returned to her Freedom Township roots where she continues to reside with her husband, Mark. Her son, Jamie Hall graduated from Manchester High School and the University of Michigan.

 Purol holds a bachelor's degree in business from Eastern Michigan University and received a master's degree in education from Marygrove College in 2001. Prior to her retirement in June 2007, Purol served for 29 years as an accounting/business technology teacher at Manchester High School. In 1985 she began teaching Manchester's advanced business technology and accounting classes through the South and West Washtenaw Vocational Consortium. Purol has also been a business instructor at Washtenaw Community College, LaVista Continuation High School, and Ann Arbor Pioneer High School.

In addition to having been the treasurer of the Manchester Education Association for 25 years, Purol spent many years as a class advisor, National Honor Society advisor, and Dutch Den advisor. She was a member of the Technology Committee, Curriculum Committee, School Improvement Committee, Band Boosters, Citizens for Education, Facilities Committee, and has participated in the Washtenaw County 4-H program.
